Dr. Michelle Fiscus with the Tennessee Department of Health, tells The Tennessean that she was fired Monday as a scapegoat to appease lawmakers.
For the report ending September 10th, Tennessee has seen a 21% decrease compared to the previous report, though the rate (515 per 100,000) remains above the national average of 288.
The state also fell to 18th in deaths from COVID-19, dropping down from 11th the previous week. As with the case rate, Tennessee’s death rate is also above the national average with 3.3 per 100,000 compared to 2.3 nationally.
