Trump’s defense on Ukraine has completely collapsed

After William Taylor’s testimony, Trump’s allies are reduced to saying things like “abuse of power is not a crime.”

Ambassador William Taylor’s testimony on the Ukraine scandal is the most devastating account to emerge so far from the affair — and maybe even the entire Trump presidency. Taylor, a top US diplomat in Ukraine, lays out a detailed timeline of the scandal, one that makes it clear that President Trump suspended military aid to Ukraine to pressure its president, Volodymyr Zelensky, into opening up an investigation into Hunter Biden and the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma.https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=652250728515816&set=gm.766690920456908&type=3&eid=ARAo5hO7aF9CpGopQsTVmyK1Sq086qHap7amc9VN1jVU5u9rYSc3_QUJ4-B9TYwcQnwAaTPlqQ4-WAPP&ifg=1

Taylor’s testimony establishes more than a quid pro quo. It destroys Republican excuses for the president’s behavior, and it details the administration’s maneuvers to cover up what he did.https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/10/bill-taylor-testimony-quid-pro-quo-ukraine.html

A group of over two dozen House Republicans on Wednesday barged into a secure room in the U.S. Capitol building and delayed the testimony of Pentagon official Laura Cooper, a witness in House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry, ahead of a closed-door deposition.

“The GOP members who protested the Cooper deposition have essentially shut down the impeachment inquiry for a time,” reported the Washington Post‘s Rachel Bade.

Many of the Republicans involved in the stunt are not members of the House Intelligence, Judiciary, and Foreign Affairs Committees and were therefore not authorized to enter the hearing room.
