A new national survey shows Joe Biden enjoying a 15-point polling lead over his nearest rival for the 2020 Democratic nomination — bolstering the former vice president’s White House bid amid emerging threats from other primary contenders and scrutiny over his son’s foreign business dealings.

Thirty-four percent of Democratic and Democratic-leaning registered voters prefer Biden as the party’s pick to take on President Donald Trump in next year’s general election, according to a CNN poll conducted by SSRS and released Wednesday.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren ranks second with 19 percent support, followed by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders with 16 percent.

Pennsylvania factory layoff foreshadows Trump 2020 troubles

Out of the 22 states with manufacturing job losses so far this year, some of those with the biggest percentage declines are states where Trump won by less than 5 percentage points, according to an NBC News analysis of the latest employment data, released last week. In Pennsylvania, the manufacturing sector lost 8,100 jobs. In North Carolina, it was 7,700, and Wisconsin lost 6,500 jobs.

Trump’s defense on Ukraine has completely collapsed

After William Taylor’s testimony, Trump’s allies are reduced to saying things like “abuse of power is not a crime.”

Ambassador William Taylor’s testimony on the Ukraine scandal is the most devastating account to emerge so far from the affair — and maybe even the entire Trump presidency. Taylor, a top US diplomat in Ukraine, lays out a detailed timeline of the scandal, one that makes it clear that President Trump suspended military aid to Ukraine to pressure its president, Volodymyr Zelensky, into opening up an investigation into Hunter Biden and the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma.

‘Beyond parody’: Matt Gaetz and dozens of his GOP colleagues try to barge into secret hearing in latest anti-impeachment stunt

a group of right-wing representatives led by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) tried to storm into a secure facility for classified information being used as part of the impeachment proceedings, demanding to be informed of the process.

Taylor’s Testimony Goes Way Beyond Quid Pro Quo

It demolishes Republican excuses for Trump’s extortion.

Taylor’s testimony establishes more than a quid pro quo. It destroys Republican excuses for the president’s behavior, and it details the administration’s maneuvers to cover up what he did.

A group of over two dozen House Republicans on Wednesday barged into a secure room in the U.S. Capitol building and delayed the testimony of Pentagon official Laura Cooper, a witness in House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry, ahead of a closed-door deposition.

“The GOP members who protested the Cooper deposition have essentially shut down the impeachment inquiry for a time,” reported the Washington Post‘s Rachel Bade.

Many of the Republicans involved in the stunt are not members of the House Intelligence, Judiciary, and Foreign Affairs Committees and were therefore not authorized to enter the hearing room.
