TRUMP’S POLL NUMBERS GO UP WITH RACIST TWEETS…

OR DO THEY?

In fact, his approval rating among registered voters nationally reached a new high at 44% in an NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll released Monday. But overall, the president is underwater with voters: 52% of those polled disapprove of the job he is doing. The poll was conducted from July 15-17, which was after the tweet he sent on July 14 and was condemned in a House resolution on Tuesday.

The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7%.

The increase suggested by this poll is within the margin of error… so his poll numbers may not have gone up. But, if Trump’s comments are RACIST, and 44 % of Americans support Trump whose comments have almost universally been EXPOSED AS RACIST, what does this support say about 44 percent of the American people.

I didn’t know who Tim Wise was, never heard of him until I saw him on MSNBC. He argues that “traditional consultant theory that does not apply” to the 2020 election with Trump as the opposition. I agree.

And by listening to influential pundits in liberal media who also don’t get the unique nature of Trumpism, relative to normal political movements & campaigns…this election is NOT going to be won by talking about all your “great plans” for health care, jobs, education, etc.

I suggested in a previous post that one or more of the candidates at the next debate needs to take on Trump… prosecute a strategy to beat Trump and not bicker with the other Democrats on the debate stage. The conversation would be about said candidate.

Enter writer and liberal activist Tim Wise. Wise was instrumental in thwarting the campaigns of white supremacist David Duke, who ran for the Louisiana Senate in 1990, and then for Governor in 1991. Most people don’t remember how close the United States came to having a literal Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard as an elected government official, however, Wise points out that this now serves as a cautionary tale.

Because, as Wise explained over the weekend in a 34-part tweet, the goal should not be about swaying ardent Trump supporters with policy —
