Eleven feet tall…

My dog PI and I usually walk in the morning. 9 am or so. I am up by 5 am each morning so we walk in the coolest part of the day. The heat can quickly build by noon and later in the day is simply too hot to get out on the asphalt and concrete.

This morning was cool and comfortable and when we got to the street I was greeted by a large bloom on the tallest of the sunflower plants. PI and I stood for a few minutes admiring the large bloom on the eleven foot sunflower plant.

I didn’t have my phone with me or a camera so I thought about walking back to the house to get my phone but decided against doing so and before moving away, a large orange brown butterfly landed on the bloom. So I decided to get the phone. When I returned, the butterfly was gone.

I took this photograph anyway.
