The GROUND is Shifting…

Trump’s approval rating is underwater…

A new poll, commissioned by a state labor union and released today, shows Trump running neck-and-neck with Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden in theoretical match-ups.

That poll follows several other recent surveys with more bad news for Republicans. A late July survey — conducted by Trump’s own pollster — showed the president losing to Biden, and another in August reported a tie. In Arizona’s closely-watched 2020 U.S. Senate race, two of those polls show GOP Sen. Martha McSally in a tie and a third shows her trailing Democrat Mark Kelly.

“Republicans are very concerned,” said Chuck Coughlin, once a top aide to Republican Govs. Fife Symington and Jane Hull. “The ground is shifting.”

Israeli Trumpist Netanyahu headed out the door…

That could spell serious trouble for the continuation of Netanyahu’s lengthy rule.

Gantz, a former military chief, has ruled out sitting with a Netanyahu-led Likud at a time when the prime minister is expected to be indicted on corruption charges in the coming weeks. It raised the specter of an alternate Likud candidate rising to challenge Netanyahu, though most of its senior officials have thus far pledged to stand solidly behind their leader.

Netanyahu, the longest serving leader is Israeli history, had desperately sought an outright majority with his hard-line and ultra-Orthodox allies in hopes of passing legislation to give him immunity from his expected indictment.

Huff Post

“I know you’re trying, but just not hard enough.”

In a packed room on Capitol Hill Tuesday afternoon, Senate Democrats were fawning over a group of youth climate activists, showering them with praise. “We need your leadership. Young people are the army,” Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), a co-author of the Green New Deal resolution, told them. “You put a spotlight on this issue in a way there has never been before.”

But Greta Thunberg, the most famous activist of them all, wasn’t having any of it.

“Please save your praise, we don’t want it,” said Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swede who has become the most recognizable and influential face of the youth climate movement. “Don’t invite us here to tell us how inspiring we are without doing anything about it. We don’t want to be invited to these kinds of meetings because, honestly, they don’t lead to anything.”

It’s possible you went to bed Saturday night, like I did, upset and angry about the news that a 21-year-old man besotted with white supremacy and armed with an assault rifle opened fire in El Paso, Texas, killing at least 20 people and injuring dozens more. How could you know that, by the time you awoke, another mass shooting — this one in Dayton, Ohio — would be making headlines?

Netanyahu’s Demonization of Palestinian-Israelis Backfires Spectacularly

Binyamin Netanyahu appears to have fallen short in his quest for a majority of 61 in the 120-seat Israeli parliament or Knesset. As I write, his far-right Likud Party is tied 32 to 32 with its center-right rival, Blue and White. Netanyahu campaigned frenetically and acted a little unbalanced during this election season, striking militarily as far afield as Iraq and attempting to suppress the internal Palestinian-Israeli vote by proposing putting cameras at voting booths, knowing that discriminated-against Palestinian-Israelis would therefore avoid coming out to vote. The proposal was struck down. But Netanyahu relentlessly demonized the Palestinian-Israelis as wanting to kill all of the Jewish Israelis (this is not true) and warning that his rival, Benny Gantz, would put Palestinian-Israelis, or “Aravim” as Netanyahu calls them with a sneer– horror of horrors– in the Israeli cabinet (this is also not true).

Sandy Hook Promise’s chilling back-to-school PSA hopes to prevent mass shootings

It begins with a smiling teen boy, opening his locker to retrieve the “perfect” backpack that his mom bought him.
It ends with a young girl, in tears, texting a goodbye to her mother as a door opens and foot steps approach.
The “Back to School Essentials” public service announcement, which debuted Wednesday morning show, purports to show off the items every student needs to have in the new school year. But in reality, it’s a chilling battle cry against school shootings which stresses that these acts of violence can be prevented.
You can watch it here. But be warned: it’s upsetting.
