…government of the people, by the people, for the people

You may recall that “liberation day” was supposed to be in April, but then the stock market and the dollar tanked, bond yields soared, and President Trump delayed all the tariffs for 90 days. Since then, three federal judges — one appointed by Reagan and one appointed by Trump — unanimously ruled that the “reciprocal” tariffs Trump is imposing under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act are illegal.

National Review

Donald Trump’s erratic tariff war with America’s trading partners has reached the point where the editors of the normally Trump-supporting National Review are begging the courts to shut the whole thing down.

In an editorial on Thursday morning, under the headline “Trump’s Reckless New Tariffs,” the editors expressed their exasperation with the president for now sending off letters to world leaders threatening the tariffs that have been on-again, off-again as deadlines have come and gone.

With Trump’s “Liberation Day” deadline kicked down the road, the editors note that multiple judges have already ruled that the reciprocal tariffs Trump has advocated for under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act don’t pass legal muster.

With that in mind, they point out that the letters the president has been touting with yet another deadline are a waste of time.

An Average 46 Americans died in Viet Nam each day President Bone Spurs was Dodging the Draft…

Pointing out that reaction to the letters on the markets has been greeted with a shrug (“They don’t believe him”) they added, “That doesn’t make the tariffs any less crazy. He is sending these letters to foreign leaders as though they are the ones who pay tariffs. Trump should be sending all of these to the American people, as they are the ones who would bear the burden of these tax hikes.”

As for Trump making demands of marginal trading partners, the editors wrote, “Presidents should not behave this way, and they can’t. Trump’s actions under IEEPA have already been ruled illegal by one federal court, and oral arguments for the appeals court are scheduled for July 31.”

With those hearings just weeks away, they added, “If they put an end to Trump’s tariff spree, the courts would be doing the rule of law, and the markets, a favor.”

National Review by way of Raw Story

President Donald Trump gushed over his Pentagon chief’s Friday morning appearance on Fox News — but sharp-eyed observers questioned the state of his cognitive health, noting there was no such appearance.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, “Secretary of War Pete Hegseth was great on FoxNews this morning. Talking about modern weapons and warfare. Thank you also to Brett Velicovich, who really knows his ‘stuff.’ We are really on our way. MAGA!”

But as The Daily Beast noted, Hegseth, whose title remains secretary of Defense, was traveling Friday and never appeared on the conservative network. Instead, the president appeared to be fooled as the network showed a clip Hegesth shared on his X account. That video was posted on Thursday, taken down, and reposted on Friday.

Donald Trump walks into a bar and sees Mike Pence sitting beside a 12-inch pianist. Trump says to Pence, “That’s amazing. Where did he come from?”

Pence pulls out an old lamp and tells Trump the genie inside will grant him one wish. Trump rubs the bottle, and to his amazement, a puff of purple smoke spews out and slowly collects in the form of a genie. In a booming voice the genie tells Trump he has but one wish.

Trump thinks a moment and says, “I wish I had a million bucks.” All of a sudden the bar is filled with ducks, bursting from the door and the windows, standing on top of the bar, dunking their heads into people’s drinks.

“What just happened?!” Trump asks.

Pence replies, “I know. Did you really think I wanted a 12-inch pianist?”

Donald Trump has unleashed a new theology of hate in America. Republicans, who claim to be the guardians of the “Christian” religion in America, embrace the Trump theology of hate without flinching.

Recently, in Nashville, three 9 year old children were shot by a disturbed person who purchased, LEGALLY, 7 weapons of death, 3 of the weapons were AR-15s, and all Republicans do is provide “thoughts and prayers”. Thoughts and prayers is all Republicans do after all the murders of young children with weapons of death.

You can bet that after the next murder of young children with weapons of death, all we will get from Republicans are prayers and thoughts, which apparently do nothing to protect the young children.

I think God has stopped listening to Republicans. For reasons that are readily apparent if you are paying attention. The theology of hate just doesn’t sit well with God.
