Certain achievements during Trump’s presidency – notably appointments that shifted the Supreme Court to the right – have solidified that support. He’s now the clear front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, even after he recently was found liable for sexually abusing a New York woman in 1996 and was indicted in a criminal case related to hush money payments to a porn actress.

Robert Jeffress, pastor of an evangelical megachurch in Dallas, has been a staunch supporter of Trump since his first campaign for president and is sticking by him even as rivals like South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott and former Vice President Mike Pence tout their Christian faith.
“Conservative Christians continue to overwhelmingly support Donald Trump because of his biblical policies, not his personal piety,” Jeffress told The Associated Press via email. “They are smart enough to know the difference between choosing a president and choosing a pastor.”

Can a True Christian who follows the teachings of Jesus really get behind Mr. Trump’s candidacy, especially in light of his often blistering rhetoric, penchant for bending the truth and perpetual legal baggage?
Many who will vote for Joe Biden respond with resounding no. With secularists suddenly breaking rank on their biblical aversions to herald Jesus’ teachings, quote Scripture and vociferously condemn Christians who consider showing Mr. Trump any semblance of support.

Some MAGA Trump supporters say that it’s remarkable to watch some of the very people who generally demean Christian values act as though they’ve suddenly become scriptural gurus, holding Christians to a litmus test these secularists simply don’t comprehend and for which they have no real framework.
We simply point out the hypocrisy of what you say and do, and use your religion to do so. Trumpist Christians so easily ignore the words of Jesus during his trial before Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor asked the Lord, “Are you the king of the Jews?” (John 18:33). Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world” (John 18:36, ESV).

Matthew writes in Matthew 24:24 the following: “For false Christ and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.” Matthew is saying that these false teachers will be so good at being false, that if it is possible they would lead the elect astray. Trump is leading the “elect” astray.
